"The food was great and the Romanian wine, surprisingly good. " Brent
Radek: the best and the closest to eastern European food was the varenyky and maybe the stuffed pepper. The other food is kind of mix of eastern European and asian taste. I was expecting more of eastern European food. Dessert was nice but not eastern European taste, I expected something like strudel or plum cake.
Paprika: Service was slow, otherwise great!
Amy: My favorite dish was the chicken paprika. The chicken was moist and had great flavor.
Nick: Good food, pleasant environment, service efficient and friendly. All in all a successful evening.
Emmanuel: Add more sauce to the chicken paprika. It was a bit dry. The Pierogi is fantastic! Sad dessert.
Alyssa: The studded bell pepper is a great option for vegetarians. It was extremely flavorful, yet meat free. I enjoyed the live band, but it was a bit difficult to chat with new people, either go with your friends who don’t need to talk or ask for a table a little further from the band if on a date or meeting new people.
Bret: The food was great and the Romanian wine, surprisingly good. Try Pierogois and the glazed pork. Not a big deal but no serving utensils for family style. Serving was strange.
Kayden: All very good.
Sara: The only thing that really struck me was how little goat cheese there was for a dish with the first few words being “fried goat cheese”. Also the pork seemed abit drowned in sauce rather than merely glazed.
Christian: Please no Romanian wine.
Joanna: Service was abit too slow but the food is excellent. Especially pierogi！
Josh: I thought the food was good not outstanding, I’d Say the taste was almost blend.
Bloc is certainly one of the few eastern European restaurants in Shanghai that serves authentic pierogis. Try their signature Cider glazed pork loin to experience their simplistic yet modern approach to a simple dish. Their 2 story building, along with an outdoor terrace do make room for a good party.
